Honouring the Late Mr Martin Kekana
The day was dedicated to Mr Martin Kekana, a former principal of Tshepisa Primary School, whose leadership helped shape the school community. Announcing the handover the day before, Threads for iKasi Foundation put it plainly: the way to honour him was to continue the work he had given his life to.
The Transnet Foundation Funded All 50 Uniforms
The Transnet Foundation sponsored the handover in full. Confirming the visit afterwards, Transnet described the donation as part of the Threads for iKasi 1000 Uniforms Campaign, a programme aimed at restoring dignity and building confidence among learners in communities affected by socio-economic hardship.
Every uniform was packed and labelled for a named learner before the handover began, so that each child collected a bag prepared specifically for them.

The Second Leg of the 1000 Uniforms Initiative
Tshepisa was the second school in the initiative. Inxiweni Primary School received the first 50 uniforms on 27 February 2026, a week earlier.
